Tyson Fury Survives Knockdown to Defeat Francis Ngannou in Split Decision
Tyson Fury survived a third-round knockdown to defeat Francis Ngannou in a split decision on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
One judge scored the fight 95-94 for Ngannou, but the other two judges scored it 96-93 and 95-94 for Fury.
Fury’s WBC heavyweight title was not on the line in the 10-round boxing match.
Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion, was making his professional boxing debut. Fury, the undefeated WBC heavyweight champion, was installed as a 14-1 favorite to win the match.
It is unclear if Fury’s undisputed heavyweight championship fight against Oleksandr Usyk, which is scheduled for December 23 in Riyadh, will still happen on that date.

Fury continued to control the fight in the eighth and ninth rounds, landing jabs and combinations at will. Ngannou was unable to land any significant punches, and he began to show signs of fatigue.
In the tenth and final round, Fury coasted to victory. He landed a few jabs and combinations, but he did not press the attack. Ngannou was unable to land any significant punches, and he looked exhausted.
At the end of the fight, the judges’ scorecards were read, and Fury was declared the winner by split decision.However, Ngannou silenced critics with his stunning performance. James Harden returns to 76ers practice, but is stopped from traveling with the team to Milwaukee
Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden returned to practice on Wednesday after a 10-day absence for personal reasons. However, Harden was stopped from traveling with the team to Milwaukee for their season opener against the Bucks on Thursday.
According to league sources, Harden was told by team officials that it would be beneficial for him to remain in Philadelphia to continue the ramp-up process. Harden had returned with the intention of reacclimating himself with the team, but the Sixers wanted him to stay back and focus on his conditioning.
Harden initially interpreted staying back as a suggestion, and he participated in portions of practice with the intention of joining the team on the flight to Milwaukee. However, after practice, Harden was stopped by a security official at the airport and notified that he was not permitted to accompany the team.
General manager Elton Brand and head coach Nick Nurse spoke to Harden to explain that the organization prefers he accepts and follows their workout plan, which includes staying at the practice facility while the team is away.The workout program includes monitoring Harden’s measurables and speed with their tracking system, which is located at the facility. The Sixers’ two-way players would also be staying back in Philadelphia with Harden, as well as a trainer with whom he regularly works.
Harden was reportedly frustrated by the situation, but he departed the airport without further incident.

RWANDA REPAYS $400 MILLION EUROBOND DESPITE ECONOMIC PRESSURES
Rwanda has faced multiple pressures on her finances brought on by ongoing global shocks linked to the prolonged impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the appreciation of the US dollar.
However, this did not deter the East African Nation from successfully repaying its $400 million Eurobond.
According to information obtained by The EastAfrican, a media house focused on East African news, the payment, was successfully made just before the deadline this week.
Representatives of Rwanda’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning stated the following:
“The government has set aside $63 million as part of the International Monetary Fund’s Special Drawing Rights (SDR) allocation that it received in 2021 as support to fight against the impact of Covid-19 on the economy. This foresight and proactive measure by the government have significantly reduced the risk of default and allowed a successful repayment of the remaining 15.1% of the 2013 Eurobond.”
Rwanda was also able to reduce its debt load during the pandemic when it used the second $620 million Eurobond, issued in response to the low-interest rate environment, to pay back a portion of the $400 million. The coupon rate on the $620 million 10-year Eurobond issued in April 2021 was 5.5%, which was lower than the 2013 rate of 6.625%. Over the following ten years, the lower yield resulted in a decrease in its yearly interest payments, which helped make its debt manageable. With public and publicly guaranteed debt growing substantially to 78.3% of GDP in 2021 from a pre-pandemic ratio of 60.7% of GDP in 2019, the government has borrowed heavily in recent years to support economic recovery and development initiatives. However, with long maturities and low-interest rates, development finance institutions are responsible for about 80% of this debt’s concessions.
